Love Thy Neighbor

It's all about adopting a senior citizen in your neighborhood who lives alone and may be a shut in or have very little company or contact with the outside world.

We are asking that individuals check in on their "adopted" senior on a weekly basis or as often as possible.

They are very lonely which makes them even greater victims of Elder Abuse. Most of them are unable to do simple tasks such as change a light bulb in a ceiling fixture because they can no longer climb. Besides checking on them do thoughtful acts of kindness such as taking them a bowl of soup, chili or a piece of cake from your left overs at dinner. Set out their trash when you take yours out every week. Mow or rake their yard. Ask if they need anything from the store when you go or just call them on the phone to see if they are OK and chat for a few minutes. Some of these individuals go days on end and never talk to another person.

This is intended to help in the prevention of Elder Abuse as well as making the lives of our seniors a little brighter and better.
